History:
Daniel J. Nellum Youth Services was established
in memory of its namesake in 1992, by
family members that believed in the work and
mission of Daniel Nellum. It currently operates
as a 501 (c)3 shelter that houses and supports
male wards of the State of Illinois, aged 14-21,
by delivering a milieu of services customized to
their individual needs.
Mission Statement:
To reduce teen homelessness and violence by
providing each individual in our care a safe,
nurturing and therapeutic environment. We further
our mission by providing services committed
to maximizing their potential and reducing
the risk of recidivism, a relapse of criminal, self-defeating
behavior.
Contracted by The Illinois
Department of Children and Family Services, we
use our resources wisely to minimize cost and
effectively maximize service capacity. Currently
located and operating in Chicagos Englewood
community, we desire to expand our services to
meet the demands of the community.
