Family Service of Glencoe is a non-profit community-based organization which has been dedicated to addressing changing Village needs since 1914 when it was founded. Its mission is: To promote a stronger community and meet individual and family needs through services which identify, prevent and resolve social and emotional problems. Family Service seeks to fulfill its mission through programs such as counseling and psychotherapy services, crisis response, Domestic Violence intervention, employee assistance, scholarship assessment, senior housing assistance, and programs to assist the unemployed.
Although the agency is small, its reach is wide. Last year 1700 were served. Presently, funds are raised through government grants, United Way, foundations, generous donations from residents, businesses and corporations and a special event each spring.
