Erikson Institute, a graduate school in child development located in downtown Chicago, is seeking to hire an Information Services Librarian.
Roles & Responsibilities:
The Edward Neisser Library houses a unique collection of approximately 20,000 volumes that support the family services, child development and early childhood education curricula at the Institute. We seek an innovative, energetic, and tech-savvy Information Services Librarian to join our small and collaborative staff to provide reference and instructional services, approximately 2-3 hours of desk service provision daily. Reporting to the Library Director, the Information Services Librarian will also participate in the development and maintenance of the Erikson Institute Archive, provide collection management and instructional services, participate in Online/Distance Education support initiatives (e.g. instruction, digital learning materials creation and support); apply usability and accessibility standards to create and maintain library web pages; implement special projects by working with library and Institute colleagues; conduct assessment and maintain relevant statistics; and foster strong relationships with Institute departments. Other duties as assigned; some evenings and weekends required.

• ALA-accredited Master’s Degree in Library Science or equivalent.
• Public service experience in an academic library (e.g. Reference and/or Instruction)
• Evidence of strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Flexibility appropriate for a dynamic, collaborative work setting
• Subject background in Education, Psychology, Human Development, or Social Work.
• Experience with web page design and development, including assessment/usability testing.
• Experience with archives organization and management.
• Familiarity with emerging trends in student learning; information literacy theory, practice, and assessment; and/or changing public service models in an academic library.
