Erikson Institute, a graduate school in child development located in downtown Chicago, is seeking to hire an Assistant Director of Continuing Education. This position directs the design, development, implementation, and evaluation of new online continuing education programs, and also directs the implementation and evaluation of in-person continuing education programs for professionals and the general public delivered at Erikson Institute or on-site, with appropriate financial responsibilities with regard to grants and other types of funding.

Roles & Responsibilities:
A. Manage focus and content of continuing education programming delivered online as modules, courses and communities of interest, and in-person as seminars, colloquia, workshops, and conferences, for professional and others interested in child development and early childhood education.
B. Develop new online, blended, and technology-mediated continuing education offerings and enhance existing in-person continuing education programs by integrating new online resources, tools, and approaches that blend high tech and high touch solutions for adult learners.
C. Oversee staffing, contracting, scheduling, production, promotion, set-up, and record-keeping for all continuing education offerings for professionals and the general public.
D. Initiate and coordinate development of new programs, formats, and content, both online and in-person
E. Establish and fulfill contracts for online and on-site consultation and training.
F. Establish relationships with funding and project partners; write grant proposals and project reports, manage and staff projects, and seek new sources of funding.
G. Seek funding and collaborative partners for the design, development, and delivery of innovative continuing education programs available in technology-enhanced, blended, and fully online formats.
H. Monitor and ensure compliance with regional, state, and federal certification and licensing requirements.
I. Select continuing education projects of high priority and set accomplishment goals; prepare and implement budget to support work.
J. Establish and maintain procedures for the systematic supervision and evaluation of instruction.
K. Facilitate development of both online and traditional in-person models that uphold Erikson’s mission and values, with an emphasis on relationship- and community-based approaches to adult learning and continuing education across the lifespan.
L. Create and maintain a high performance environment characterized by positive leadership, a strong team orientation and close collaboration with the Instructional Designers and members of the Distance Learning and Instructional Technology teams
M. Supervise work of the Manager of Continuing Education and Events.

Mandatory Job Qualifications

Qualifications:
A. Master’s degree or the equivalent in early childhood/child development is strongly preferred.
B. Demonstrated experience with designing and delivering continuing education programs in online and in-person formats is required.
C. Three to five years relevant experience.
