Organization: The Chicago Chamber Musicians is a society of professional musicians and interested supporters dedicated to excellence in the study and performance of chamber music.
The organization fosters several programs of artistic development, performance, community outreach and education. The ensemble of 13 artists comprised of piano, strings, woodwinds and brass is supported by a professional staff, a board of directors and a corps of volunteers.
CCM’s concert season includes six pairs of subscription concerts, contemporary music concerts, free monthly noontime concerts at the Chicago Cultural Center, a set of Family Concerts, architecture-related music events, special events, live radio concerts and touring engagements.
In addition, CCM fosters a strong dedication to connecting with and serving diverse Chicago audiences through community engagement, a professional development program, and in-school education programs. CCM is committed to new music as demonstrated by 15 commissions for new works and premieres of numerous more. CCM is heard frequently on APM’s Performance Today and has produced a number of CDs, of which Chamber Music for Winds and Strings by Mozart on the Summit label was a 2007 GRAMMY finalist.
Position: The full-time position of Artistic/Operations Coordinator will relate to elements of artistic planning and operations, scheduling and communications, and concert management and production. As a key member of the staff, the Coordinator will work primarily with the Artistic Director and Executive Director to create and realize relevant artistic plans and initiatives including educational as well as the public ensemble programs; the Coordinator will also work in close cooperation with the ensemble artists.
o Working closely with the Artistic Director, develop season concert and rehearsal schedule and maintain with updated information
o Assist Artistic Director by providing information and materials needed to adhere to organizational deadlines and with communications to ensemble, board and staff
o With Artistic Director and Executive Director, develop and manage initiatives (such as recording sessions, gala program, new performance opportunities)
o Make touring arrangements and serve as liaison to presenters
o Coordinate with Executive Director on all programs, including scheduling and production support to plan and execute education and community engagement programs.
o Maintain communications with ensemble artists (about changes and confirmations regarding schedule, repertoire and personnel); communicate about new performance opportunities and details around performances
o Contract guest artists and composers; communicate with guests regarding schedule, repertoire, and other performance details; arrange travel and accommodations when necessary
o The Coordinator also facilitates communication for the Artistic Director to help manage his involvement in Development and Marketing activities.
Concert Management and Production
o Make arrangements for all concert needs (hall and instrument rentals, rehearsal space, recording engineer, stage hands, etc.)
o Direct concert production and artistic production for special events
o Stage management (direct and participate in stage set ups and changes, prepare artists for stage entrance)
o Order and track music; maintain music and recording libraries; update performance database and records
o Assist with Education Programs as it relates to Ensemble Artist participation
o Manage CCM’s online recording archive
o Coordinate recording projects (work with engineers, producers, CD label, designer, etc.)
o Coordinate A/V needs for performances, when applicable
o Coordinate execution of all syndicated and local radio initiatives
Reports to: Executive Director with dotted line relationship to Artistic Director

- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and minimum two years of relevant experience. A background in arts management is preferred.
- Strong computer literacy required in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook; Familiarity with most commonly used social media software, Google, Skype, et al.
- Possessing a passion for the organization’s mission and work
- Musical literacy; knowledge of the classical music field is preferred.
- Knowledge and experience in A/V production preferred.
- Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills; ability to manage many details and tasks
- Capacity for independent management of multiple projects
- Self-motivation and ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure
- Positive attitude, diplomatic and unflappable
