Currently, we have a career opportunity as a Marketing Coordinator. The Marketing Coordinator for the McCormick School of Engineering is a marketing generalist who contributes to the development of strategic marketing projects designed to promote the McCormick School among its constituents. The position also plays a key role in coordinating the administrative functions of the office. The Marketing Coordinator is responsible for electronic communication, including web site updates and HTML e-mail newsletters and invitations; provides design support for select electronic and print projects; maintains displays throughout the building; manages key databases, including the photo archive and mailing lists; enters expenses and reconciles the department budget; and coordinates McCormick's line of promotional products.

This critical role:
 
Develops e-mail newsletters and invitations for internal and external audiences;
Prepares reports on e-mail deliverability and modify content to optimize readership;
Maintains specific web sites using the content management system, including the McCormick school home page;
Coordinates web image and graphic rotation;
Converts and posts McCormick Magazine to online version;
Researches and develops new online marketing tools;
Develops supplementary graphics for the McCormick web site and electronic communications;
Designs marketing collateral or coordinate with freelance designers to produce materials, such as posters, invitations, and flyers, for specific events and initiatives;
Assists in the development of presentations for senior administrators;
Provides direction to departments and programs for the development of brand compliant materials;
In conjunction with McCormick IT, coordinates the flow of information to displays throughout the building;
Develops physical displays for cases throughout the building, working with staff members in programs and departments to secure projects;
Develops advertisements for the display system featuring news and events at McCormick;
Manages McCormick event calendar, acting as a liaison for all McCormick departments and programs;
Manages archives of faculty, staff, and alumni awards and honors for specific publications;
Manages photo database, working with other members of the department to ensure that photos are accurately organized, tagged, and archived;
Manages mailing lists for publications and e-mail newsletters;
Processes accounts payables and/or receivables, verifies income and/or expenses, resolves discrepancies and over/under budget problems, etc;
Enters, tracks, and maintains documentation and logs of financial transactions ensuring that charges have posted to appropriate accounts;
Assists with reconciliation of accounts, reviewing budget statements, investigating and resolving discrepancies and preparation of budget reports and spreadsheets;
Coordinates with all members of the marketing department and the Dean's office to assure budget responsibility;
Coordinates with Dean’s office staff to ensure budget compliance for the entire marketing group;
Develops budget projections and manages the annual budget submission;
Coordinates the development and dissemination of promotional products for the dean, departments, and programs;
Performs related duties as required or assigned.


Minimum Qualifications:

A bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, business or related field required, or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience from which comparable skills can be acquired;
A minimum of two years of experience in marketing, advertising and communication functions;
The ability to work collaboratively with colleagues in a team environment;
Proficiency with desktop publishing software, specifically Adobe Creative Suite 4;
Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly PowerPoint;
Familiarity with the culture and mission of a major research university;
Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously and flawlessly;
A confident, professional and positive attitude;
Experience in the development of variety of marketing materials;
Sound organizational skills;
Good attention to detail;
A high degree of creativity and initiative;
Sound written and oral communication skills.


Preferred Qualifications:

A master's degree or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience for which comparable skills can be acquired;
Proficiency with web development;
Confident, professional, positive attitude with a sense of humor;
Ability to adapt to different people and situations, and incorporate honesty, respect and fairness in daily actions;
Ability to follow through on commitments.
