Description
1. Maintain a caseload of 40-55 clients.
2. Conduct intake interviews and assess clients in order to develop appropriate treatment plans.
3. Assist in the orientation of new clients to the program upon admission and ensure the dissemination of group rules.
4. Develop and maintain up to date treatment plans for clients. Review treatment plans monthly.
5. Maintain Progress Notes on all contacts with clients.
6. Conduct regularly scheduled group counseling sessions
7. Conduct individual counseling sessions, as determined by the client’s need and service level expectations.
8. Maintain a referral system for all clients.
9. Assist in obtaining urine drops from clients, as scheduled one time a week.
10. Ensure that DARTS and DARTS forms are completed and submitted to the Secretary in a timely manner.
11. Assist the Program Director with utilization reviews and quality assurance measures.
12. Become familiar with the Fee System and its impact on clients.
13. Utilize the client’s support system (family, AA, NA, etc.) to facilitate recovery and provide family education, when needed.
14. Provide information, referral, and training on issues of major impact such as A.I.D.S. and other communicable diseases.
16. Observe all Substance Abuse Operations rules and regulations, S.O.P.’S, OASA, FDA and DEA regulations and rules, as well as CEDA policies.
17. Ensure that confidentiality rules are strictly maintained and that client records are adequately secured at all times.
18. Be aware of, and familiar with, the Fire Drill Plan and Procedures, the Emergency Plan for Client Care, the Evacuation Plan, and the Alarm Systems.
19. Assist other staff members in maintaining a safe, clean, and orderly environment.
20. Assume the duties of the absent counselor, when required, in order to maintain an adequate level of service.
Mandatory Job Qualifications
High School or equivalent; College education and/or degree strongly preferred; CADC certification required; IAODAPCA substance abuse counselor certification; related field experience of two (2) years or more is desirable, strong interpersonal relationship skills, good oral and written communication skills.
