The Alumni Giving Manager will build alumni relationships and work closely with the Director of Alumni and Outreach Programs and the Executive Director of IA in managing those donor relationships. This position will implement all components of the strategic fundraising plan for alumni including: prospecting, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship. These responsibilities include managing donor solicitations, including small scale-fund and friend-raising events and direct mail campaigns.

Specific duties will include: Lead prospecting for alumni giving. Strategize and implement cultivation techniques to inspire alumni to become donors. Launch and manage a leadership annual giving society, targeting households with potential to give $250-$500 and more per year and launching named society with calendar of cultivation and engagement events. Over time, move annual donors into major gift and legacy gift relationships, coordinating with the Director of Major and Planned Gifts; Manage a portfolio of alumni relationships, improve donor retention, and increase the number of annual fund donors through a meaningful stewardship strategy, leveraging VP, Executive Director, and Board Members in these efforts; Lead all direct mail annual fund campaigns targeting individuals, developing preparation and execution of mailings; Generate, manage, and support small scale-fund and friend-raising events by leveraging relationships with current and potential annual fund donors to significantly grow the number of individuals supporting the organization. Build annual calendar of cultivation events and lead all preparation and post-event follow-up. Work closely with other critical IA staff; Work with the Director of Alumni & Outreach Programs and Executive Director of Advancement on projects as assigned. Work with Alumni & Outreach Manager on crossover projects, including newsletter and website content, online giving, and other IA collateral materials.

Mandatory Job Qualifications

Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills required. Previous experience developing relationships that result in achieving annual goals. Highly organized, detail oriented, and able to handle multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment. Must have excellent facilitation and/or presentation skills. Experience in working with diverse volunteer groups from many employment and socio- economic backgrounds. This position will need to utilize and engage cutting-edge technologies and online programs to create dynamic, long-distance programs and services.Minimum college degree or equivalent experience required. Bachelor’s preferred. Minimum 2 years of relevant work (similar sales and management) experience, advanced knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
