Description
The Director of Development reports to the Chief Executive Officer and has primary responsibility to develop and implement the strategy to identify, cultivate and solicit prospective Renaissance donors as well as manage and steward existing donors. Reporting to this position is the Major Gifts Officer who supports gifs administration, grant reporting and proposal writing.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage implementation of fundraising strategy for RSF
- Structure campaign to meet needs of new school start-up grants and RSF operating budget
- Supervise all logistics related to fundraising campaigns and gift programs including the establishment of criteria for target audiences to improve participation and yield
- Ensure alignment of fundraising needs, operational budget and grants disbursement
- Create and implement strategy to identify prospective donors from multiple sources, including individuals, corporations and foundations, and support relationship management activities
- Support the CEO and Board of Directors in major gift cultivation
- Manage submission of all proposals, materials and reports for prospects and donors
- Oversee/create systems and record-keeping procedures to identify and track current and potential donors and to record, report, acknowledge and steward all gifts
- Develop and implement donor stewardship plan, activities and events
- Manage external relationships with donors and partner organizations; represent RSF at key events
Mandatory Job Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s Degree and/or fundraising certification preferred
- 7 -10 years progressively responsible fundraising experience (education fundraising experience preferred) and ability to demonstrate management of various fundraising programs
- Demonstrated ability to lead, develop and implement major fundraising campaigns
- Experience successfully cultivating, soliciting and securing major gifts
- Experience working in an entrepreneurial and/or fast paced environment
- Solid strategic thinking and creative problem solving skills
- Exceptional written and oral communications skills and excellent interpersonal skills
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to develop and implement strategy and work plans
- Experience advising or working with senior level donors and executive board members
- High energy, self-directed and results-oriented
- Ability to coach and professionally develop team members
