Description
The Executive Director will cultivate the level of relationships necessary to provide leadership to all hospital fundraising initiatives and related foundation board and volunteer leadership development programs. This includes:
- Work closely with donors, the Foundation Board, the Hospital Board, hospital and medical staff, the hospital Auxiliary and other community outreach organizations to expand the LCMH donor and volunteer base.
- Develop and pursue ideas, contacts and strategies to raise funds from individuals, corporations and foundations in the Southwest Suburbs, Metropolitan Chicago and elsewhere across the region.
- Separately and in tandem with the President and CEO, Chairman of the Board of Directors, Foundation and Hospital Board Members, and other key hospital medical and administrative staff and volunteer leadership identify, cultivate and solicit major donors for operating, capital and special projects for LCMH.
- Provide leadership and management for planning, organizing and directing all Foundation development programs and serve as chief fundraising strategist and influence manager for the Hospital.
- Ensure the Foundation has a strategic long-range fundraising and board/volunteer leadership development plan in place which supports the hospital’s mission.
- Provide oversight and leadership to the Foundation, creating a highly integrated and professional fundraising office environment while building and nurturing an energetic and high performing fundraising team.
Mandatory Job Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university. An advanced degree is preferred.
- An experienced fund development officer with a minimum of seven years progressive not-for-profit fundraising and management experience, with a well-documented and successful history of success.
- Demonstrated ability to successfully cultivate and secure major gifts for Annual Fund and Capital Campaigns and manage related stewardship and donor care activities.
- A personal and compassionate relationship builder able to exemplify and model the hospital mission, vision and ministry of the Sisters within the local and broader community.
- Strategic, visionary and goal oriented with the ability to “take charge and follow through”.
- Exceptional presentation and communication skills and ability to effectively engage with corporate leaders, physicians and medical professionals, donors, volunteers, the healthcare community and general public.
- Highly skilled and experienced in leading, empowering, coaching, mentoring and developing highly effective staff and volunteer teams.
- Proven track record of recruiting, nurturing and engaging board members and volunteer leadership to deliver on fundraising plans and initiatives.
- Firm understanding and comfort with business and financial budgeting, forecasting, reporting and management.
- Direct hands-on Capital Campaign experience including: leadership; marketing, major gift cultivation and campaign management.
- Well connected in the local and broader philanthropic community.
