Currently, we have a career opportunity as an Assistant Manager of Research Safety Training. The Assistant Manager of Research Safety Training develops and maintains an overall safety training program that meets the Federal, State, and local safety regulation and University safety policies under the Office for Research jurisdiction.  This includes developing, designing, documenting, delivering, tracking and maintaining regulatory-required safety training for University employees and students, including University affiliates.
This critical role:
Designs and documents safety training program;
Delivers the safety training program by using a variety of innovative multi-media approaches to effectively deliver course curriculum through online and classroom venues;
Utilizes E-learning tools including Adobe Captivate to design media-rich computer-based training; 
Tracks and maintains data;
Makes assessments and recommends changes;
Works directly with ORS program managers and University subject matter experts to develop safety training based on requirements in Federal, state and local safety regulations and University safety policies;
Indentifies University employees, students, and affiliates requiring (mandatory) safety training; 
Communicates training requirements in an effort to achieve compliance which includes Outreach programs;
Provides resources to make efforts to achieve compliances as efficient as possible;
Works with University Course Management and Human Resources Information and Learning management systems to administer and track safety training;
Performs related duties as required or assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:


A bachelor's degree in instructional design or equivalent experience and education or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience from which comparable skills can be acquired; 
3-5 years of experience developing and delivering training;
Demonstrated successful ability to use multiple software programs independently;
Software includes Microsoft Office applications, e-mail applications, Adobe application and web browsers;
Communicates effectively one-to-one, in small groups and in public speaking contexts;
Writes precise, well-organized e-mail, letters and proposals while using appropriate vocabulary and grammar;
Considers context and audience in delivery;
Creates an environment of understanding and acceptance;
Solicits input from a wide variety of people and functions;
Challenges organizational policies and practices that may be exclusionary;
Follows through on commitments;
Incorporates honesty, respect and fairness in daily actions;
Demands trustworthiness from others, demonstrates courage and objectively;
Seeks to build collaboration by encouraging trust, mutual respect and shared purpose among various participants in an engagement;
Plans, organizes, and schedules in an efficient, productive manner considering all details including contingencies and alternative solutions;
Devises and implements clearly defined strategies to achieve business objectives;
Ability to present subject matter using a variety of styles, techniques and approaches applicable to the audience;
Ensures that records are maintained accurately; ensures that any information that is provided is correct and maintained.

Preferred Qualifications:

A master's degree in instructional design or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience from which comparable skills can be acquired; 
5 years of experience developing and delivering training in a safety or regulatory context;
Experience implementing online training systems;
Successfully implemented online training using an LMS or other system or other system;
Familiar with web-based database products;
Technical proficiency using Adobe Captivate and other Adobe products to generate media-rich, computer-based training;
Strong customer focus with ability to balance safety and compliance needs; ability to handle and resolve conflicts;
Take initiative to solve problems.
