JCFS, a nationally acclaimed non-sectarian Social Service agency, is looking for a talented Teacher's Aide for it's state-of-the-art Therapeutic Day School in West Rogers Park.
    

• Executes lesson plans as assigned by the classroom teacher(s)
• Works individually or with small groups of students as assigned by classroom teacher(s).
• Helps supervise the lunchroom during the lunch period with the assigned classroom teacher.
• Under the direction of the classroom teacher(s) or the administrator, may have limited oral and/or written communication with students.
• Respects student's confidentiality.
• Willing and able to perform a variety of tasks to ensure the safety of students.
• Successfully completes training in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI); successfully complete all requirements to maintain certification in TCI.
• Effectively intervenes in students disruptive behavior, both verbal and physical; including using TCI prescribed methods to de-escalate critical situations.Participates and cooperates in special events, activities, parent/teacher conferences as deemed necessary by the administration.
• Supports the classroom teacher(s)and carries out assigned duties.

Desired Qualifications

• H.S. Diploma or certified GED
   
• ISBE Certified Paraprofessional or 60 hours of college credit
   
• 1 year of related experience
   
• Ability to successfully complete Therapeutic Crisis Intervention training (Agency provided)
   
• Experience working with students with special educational needs is preferred
