· possess the ability to research donors and manipulate information in an organization’s donor database for analysis, planning and improvement related to the development goals,
· demonstrate a clear ability to both teach and learn from others,
· have some capital campaign experience
Director of Development
Lakeview Pantry
Lakeview Pantry, a non-profit organization, is looking for a qualified candidate to fill the Director of Development position. The Pantry’s mission is to eliminate hunger in the Lakeview community by providing food to fill the basic need of hungry people, increasing the independence of clients through self-help initiatives and other innovative programs, and raising awareness of poverty and its solutions.
The Lakeview Pantry provides on-site food distribution, a home delivery service for the homebound, distributes free clothing and has a case management program that helps clients connect with other services.
We are looking for a dedicated individual to help us further our cause. The Director of Development is primarily responsible for the successful development and execution of Lakeview Pantry’s short- and long-term fund raising efforts. This will include playing a leadership role in planning and implementing a capital campaign for the Lakeview Pantry.
Essential Functions:
1. Oversee the strategic development and execution of all fundraising and communication efforts for LVP. This includes coordinating, developing, implementing and evaluating a development plan for Lakeview Pantry.
2. Manage a development team and supervise the work of Lakeview Pantry’s Development Coordinator.
3. Organize, conduct and provide leadership for a capital campaign.
4. Play the primary leadership role in the cultivation of major gift donors and manage all solicitation efforts.
5. Lead in educating the board of directors and staff in areas related to their fundraising roles
6. Enhance and manage day-to-day development operations and donor relations including database management and maintenance.
7. Serve as a visible spokesperson and advocate for Lakeview Pantry’s mission and programs both to the funding community and the community at large.
8. Develop, maintain and manage close relationships with individual, corporate and foundation donors, sponsors, board members and volunteers.
9. Develop, manage and execute all annual fundraising efforts.
10. Manage and execute the Pantry’s communications efforts including: newsletters, e-newsletters, annual report, Lakeview Pantry’s Website and development of collateral fundraising materials. Cultivate relationships with local media and manage all media requests.
11. Lead in educating the board of directors and staff in areas related to their fundraising roles.
