Function:    

Supervise volunteer food-packaging groups of 10-60 youth and/or adult volunteers at Feed My Starving Children’s (FMSC) newest site, ensuring quality packaging of FMSC food product and creating a positive volunteer experience.

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

·         Communicate the FMSC story, mission, and needs to volunteer groups; solicit their support by way of donations, merchandise purchase, and prayer.

·         Orient volunteers and train them on the process of packaging food product, including food safety and food quality procedures.

·         Monitor packaging cells, including proper packaging, weighing, sealing, and boxing of food product; ensure adherence to FMSC safety and food quality policies and procedures.

·         Lead a brief Christian prayer, inviting volunteers to pray over the packaged food.

·         Oversee and delegate the clean-up of packaging area and preparation of food product containers and packaging materials for next volunteer group.

·         Maintain a clean volunteering, packaging, and warehousing environment.

·         Perform transactions for merchandise sales and operate cash register.

·         Complete production and volunteer reports after each packing shift.

·         Secure the building after groups depart.

·         Identify and report problems or concerns to the Site Supervisor or Operations Manager.

·         Attend scheduled meetings.

·         Perform other duties as assigned.

Mandatory Job Qualifications

Required Experience and Qualifications:

·         Must be 18 years of age or older.

·         Commitment to support and promote FMSC’s Christian mission and goals.

·         Positive, Christ-like attitude to be reflected amongst other FMSC staff, Team Leaders, and volunteers.

·         Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to effectively communicate information and directions to large groups.

·         Assertiveness and ability to coordinate and delegate.

·         Flexibility and ability to troubleshoot. 

·         Ability to perform responsibly and use good judgment and discretion.

·         Attention to detail and willingness to follow directions.

·         Ability to respectfully communicate and work with diverse community groups; groups vary in  age, religion, denomination, ethnicity, ability level, etc.  

·         Ability to repeatedly lift 50 pounds.

·         Ability to operate a forklift and/or hand jack preferred, but not required. Training will be provided.

Desired Qualifications

Location:     Schaumburg, IL

Schedule:     Required shifts include weeknight shifts from 4-10pm and Saturdays. Must have a flexible enough schedule to be able to work up to 20+ hours per week. Occasional trainings and Team Leader meetings are also required; Team Leader meetings occur on a weeknight evening once per month.

Wage:          $11/hour
