Loyola University Chicago invites applications for the position of Director, Ann Ida Gannon Center for Women and Leadership. One of eight Centers of Excellence, the Center unit is housed at the University’s Lake Shore campus and is dedicated to educating and fostering women leaders to transform their environment for the common good.  All Centers of Excellence report to the Associate Provost for Research Services and Centers. The Centers, a core component of the strategic plan, focus on promoting scholarly productivity, community engagement, and student learning. 

 

Founded in 1993, the Gannon Center directs leading edge programming in the areas of gender, feminism, and leadership for undergraduate, graduate and doctoral students within the University. In addition to general administrative duties in running the Center, the director will oversee research priorities (in concert with the endowed chair), developing and executing educational programming, fundraising, alumni relations (in collaboration with the Advancement Division), external relations, and service.

Core Competencies Needed to Apply

  • Graduate Degree is preferred.
  • Extensive administrative management experience including budgeting, managing a staff, representing an organization’s ideals and vision, project management, external outreach and operations.
  • Strong track record of fostering leadership opportunities among women.
  • Being well-versed in current practices in developing, mentoring and sustaining women.
  • Record of collaboration, interdisciplinary teams, developing strategic alliances.
  • Direct experience in creating and executing programs on contemporary gender issues, particularly in the area of women’s leadership.
  • Success in establishing and building strong relationships internally and externally (alumni, community, other universities and organizations).
  • Interest in working for a university that derives its mission and purpose from the Catholic intellectual tradition and a willingness to engage that tradition when managing controversies and opportunities that arise.
  • Success in fundraising and securing grant awards.
  • Demonstrated ability working in and celebrating diverse environments.
