Three month minimum commitment. The Development Department seeks an energetic Intern to assist with special projects and day-to-day Development operations and special projects. The ideal candidate will have an interest in non-profits, fundraising and executing special events. At the conclusion of his/her tenure, the intern will have a thorough understanding of development activities, including grant research, application and reporting, event planning, researching donor prospects, and solicitation strategizing. The intern will be encouraged to take a leadership role in spearheading their own project within the objectives of the development department, depending on one`s experience and hours of availability. Qualifications The number of hours and schedule are flexible, but the intern will be expected to work 10–20 hours per week, sometime between the hours of 8:30am–4:30pm, Monday through Friday in our Loop office. A successful candidate must be reliable and organized with exceptional follow-through. He or she must have an ability to take direction, multi-task, and has a capacity for critical observation as many times new prospects or avenues for funding may arise from unlikely connections. Creativity and initiative developing ideas and projects with a strong work ethic and willingness to learn is ideal. Familiarity with MS Office is necessary for this position. In addition, candidates must be Internet savvy and have good clerical skills. Compensation Although this is an unpaid internship, this is a great opportunity for candidates interested in non-profit fundraising, marketing, public affairs and special event planning.
