Organization: Social Services Location: Chicago Position Title: Accounting Manager Essential Duties and Responsibilities Perform all accounts payable functions, including organizing outstanding invoices, assembling bills for payment, generating cash disbursements, preparing accounts payable lists, managing petty cash, completing credit card transactions and process payroll. Make follow-up telephone calls to vendors, as necessary, for invoice clarification. File financial documents, such as paid bills and deposit reports. Maintain general and subsidiary accounting ledgers, payroll, systems, accounts receivable management, financial reporting and accounting. Prepare and enter general journal entries into the accounting system, as directed by the Director of Finance and Accounting. Prepare routine billings to government agencies for contract grants. Generate routine financial reports from the accounting system, for review by the Director of Finance and Accounting. Prepare all of the internal and external financial reports of the organization for funder, governmental bodies, auditors and the Board of Directors. Maintain adequate records of all government contracts and financial transactions of the organization. Prepare all the documentation for government site visits for review by the Director of Finance and Accounting. Assist in compiling and organizing information for annual audit of financial statements. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Proven ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Demonstrated ability to work with and be sensitive to persons with disabilities and persons from diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds. High level of computer literacy. Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree in Accounting Minimum two (2) years accounting experience & experience in MIP preferred Fund accounting experience desirable. Not-for-profit experience preferred. |
